Celebrate 4th of July in St. Augustine 2021

A firework display in St. Augustine, Florida

Our exciting fireworks show is back for 2021!

Sunday, July 4, 2021, 6 - 10 p.m.

St. Augustine's Fourth of July celebration at the Castillo de San Marcos is a wonderful celebration. “Fireworks over the Matanzas” is one of the most spectacular displays on the East Coast. With 5,000 shells exploding from over 2,000 feet to a low of 100 feet, you will definitely be amazed. Be prepared for many “oohs” and “ahhs!”

The All-Star Orchestra will perform in the Plaza de la Constitucion beginning at 6:00 PM, playing big band, swing, and patriotic music. The concert is free and open to the public. Bring your own chairs or blankets for seating.

At 9:30 PM, the marvelous fireworks display will begin. The Fort grounds, Avenida Menendez, the Bridge of Lions, and South Castillo Drive are all great vantage points to view the fireworks from downtown. The 20-minute show, produced by Fireworks by Santore, is synced with patriotic music over an extensive area along the Bayfront area. Road closures will begin at 8:30 and end at 10:30 PM, so make sure you are in place before then!

After the Fireworks display, take advantage of our many downtown pubs and restaurants for good eats and cool drinks. Please note that St. Augustine enforces the “open container” laws, so you must drink only inside restaurants and bars.

For more information on this event please call (904) 825-1004 or visit here. Please also note: The City's contract with the fireworks company allows them to cancel up to June 4, 2021, if they decide that holding the event does not best serve the public. There will be no satellite parking and shuttle service this year.

July 4th Road Closures and Downtown Parking

The bayfront road and South Castillo Drive will be closed from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. to accommodate this event. The Bridge of Lions will be closed to both boat and vehicle traffic. Everyone attending should find their parking area prior to 8:30 p.m., when the traffic rerouting begins.

The downtown parking garage at the Visitors Information Center offers all-day parking for $15 per vehicle. Parking in city-owned lots and on-street is FREE on July 4th, as it is on all national holidays. However, there will be no access to or from the parking lot of the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. on July 4. Street parking will be limited in the vicinity of the Plaza to facilitate traffic detours in the evening.

The City of St. Augustine encourages the use of bicycles for people who live close to the downtown area. Visit here for locations to park bicycles throughout the city.

Following the show, King St. and West Castillo Drive will be dedicated to west-bound traffic out of the downtown area to U.S. 1. Traffic signals in the downtown area, along Ponce de Leon Blvd. (U.S. 1), Anastasia Blvd., and State Roads 312, 207, and 16 will be monitored to facilitate traffic flow. The Bridge of Lions does not re-open until 11:00 p.m.
